Dataduct The Dataduct, lined, cable containment system has been designed and developed to meet the criteria for the management of data cables as described in the British and European cabling specification BSEN 50174-1 and BSEN 50174-2. This standard calls for the system to provide a suitable cable route for not only the installation of the cables but ensure the system throughout its life. To this end the specification of the containment systems is as follows:

The basic construction of the cable containment system is a cable baskets that is constructed from 5mm gauge and 50x50mm grid wires running in both the horizontal and lateral direction to provide maximum support of the cable without impeding access to the cable or cooling air cross flow.

By adopting the 50x50mm grid, widths and heights can be manufactured to your requirements with side wall heights ranging from 50mm up to an access 500mm and widths of over 1000mm.

The surface treatment of the cable basket system is pre-galvanised, this limits the possibility of stray zinc spurs being released into the airflow.  If after risk assessments of the proposed installation, an additional treatment of lacquer can be applied to the cable basket after manufacture to prevent all risk of these spurs growing.

A liner of base and sides is heat welded to the cable basket to provide smooth based containment system as requested in the standard.  This sheeting meets the requirements of Lloyds register LPS1207 DIN 4102 Class B1 and also BSEN ISO 11925-2 2002 ignitability of building products subjected to direct impingement of Flame. It has also been treated to provide an anti static surface.

To comply with the above stated requirements the following shall be used and applied:

All fittings for the cable containments system shall be factory made to maintain the highest levels of quality alleviate the potential for sharp uncut edges within the containment zone. The factory made fitting will provided the correct bending radii for the designated cables.
Each joint shall be earth bonded using tinned copper earth braids the total system shall be elevated from the floor by a minimum of 25mm.

The following examples of custom made cable containment are available to order and to your size specification:

Crossover	Unless protective measures are taken, damage may occur at corners and junctions. Special equal and unequal bends, tees, crossovers and reducers must be designed for total cable protection. All tees and crossovers are manufactured with a gusseted corner angle to meet the required installation cable bending radii, allowing cables to flow in both line and direction.
	In areas where double and treble lines of Datadeck intersect the offsite fabrication of combined tees, crossovers and bends can resolve many of the problems which can occur if these were individual fittings to be jointed on site. These modular units are still designed with gusseted corners to allow cable to sweep around bends without restricting the cable bending radius.
	Care is taken when designing these units that they fit around the pedestal floor legs and if required sleeves will be incorporated in the design to allow the pedestal leg to pass through the fitting
	Routine maintenance, or fault diagnosis, can be simplified and made more cost effective through the clear labeling and documenting of the system. Another ready method of identification is the use of pre-colored data trays designating particular cable routes.
